On behalf of the people of Selangor, the state prays Datuk Seri Najib Razak he will be fair and professional in his administration.
In running the country, the State Government hopes that Datuk Seri Najib will be mindful to the concept of federalism as stated in the Federal Constitution which clearly states the state-federal relationship and the rights of the states. Therefore, the new prime minister’s future policies and decisions should not be affected by the difference of political parties at the state and federal levels.
The state-federal relationship as provided in the Constitution may be strange in Malaysia but the concept thrives in successfully developed Commonwealth countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand and India.
On the economic aspect, the state believes that Datuk Seri Najib’s main task will managing Malaysia’s economy and ensure that the country can withstand the impact of recession as well as propelling growth for the future.
“On a personal level, we believe Datuk Seri Najib has a good beginning as a prime minister because there is an element of legacy in his career thanks to his late father and former prime minister, Tun Abdul Razak b Hussein who has contributed so much to the nation,” said Tan Sri Abdul Khalid.
