MARCH 25, 2009 YB ELIZABETH WONG’S LEAVE EXTENDED
Mar 25th, 2009 | By nizam | Category: Press ReleasesSHAH ALAM: The Selangor Government has today decided to extend executive councillor YB Elizabeth Wong’s leave to April 15, 2009. The decision was made at the state executive councilor meeting.
The Selangor government believes this is an appropriate decision considering that a police investigation is still underway. Today’s decision also takes into consideration the private discussion held between the Menteri Besar and YB Elizabeth last Saturday.
The state assures the people that this decision will not affect the daily running of the state. For this reason, the state has agreed that YB Elizabeth’s official duties will be delegated as follows:
- Tourism – Menteri Besar and YB Teresa Kok
- Consumers Affairs – YB Ean Yong Hian Wah
- Environment – YB Rodziah Ismail and YB Dr Xavier Jayakumar
The state government has also appointed YB Rodziah to represent YB Elizabeth in her official duties as state assemblyman for Bukit Lanjan.
While awaiting the results of the police investigation, the state government urges all parties not to make any speculation on the final status of YB Elizabeth and respect her right to privacy.
