10 FEB 2009 BUKIT ANTARABANGSA SLOPE MANAGEMENT

Feb 10th, 2009 | By nizam | Category: Press Releases

SHAH ALAM – The Selangor State Government under the Pakatan Rakyat is aware that the Bukit Antarabangsa residents are concerned about the safety of their homes after last December’s landslides. Recently there have been complaints that the slope management steps taken so far are still not sufficient.

The office of the Dato’ Menteri Besar has been made to understand that the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) is constantly monitoring the safety of the slopes while waiting to receive the reports on studies conducted by the Slope Engineering Branch of the Public Works Department (JKR), expected to be released this March.

As previously announced by the Dato’ Menteri Besar, hill slope management is the responsibility of its landowner. Despite discussions being started between the affected landowners and MPAJ on slope management, as of yet there have not been any clear action plans.

Considering this issue is one of public interest, the Selangor Dato’ Menteri Besar’s Office has issued orders for the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) to have an open discussion with resident representatives as well as all landowners in the vicinity of the landslide and Bukit Antarabangsa. These discussions will be held within a week.

According to information given by MPAJ, among the landowners involved are Farizar Development Sdn Bhd (Taman Bukit Mewah), Zed Enterprise (Taman Riverdale), Superview Development (Taman Wangsa Ukay), Portico & Polocare Sdn Bhd (Taman Villa Sri Ukay), Superhome Sdn Bhd (Taman Bukit Antarbangsa), MCB Paragon Sdn Bhd (Taman Bukit Jaya), Coral View Sdn Bhd (Taman Bukit Alam),

PJD Paragon Development (Taman Siarah Oakleaf), Upperview Sdn Bhd, IRDK Sdn Bhd (Taman Puncak Utama) Metroluc Sdn Bhd and Jasmin Villa Development Sdn Bhd (Taman Bukit Utama).

It is hoped that this open discussion will enable all parties to understand the actual situation and find the best solution for the people. The State Government takes this opportunity to again urge all parties, both individuals and companies, to understand the risks related to building on slopes, which should be taken into consideration when deciding to build or live in houses located there.
