DYMM Sultan of Selangor Held Audience With Menteri Besar
May 15th, 2009 | By nizam | Category: NewsSHAH ALAM: DYMM Sultan Selangor received in audience the Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim at the Four Seasons Hotel in California on Monday following his discharge from the Stanford University Medical Centre after undergoing heart surgery on May 2.
During the audience, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid who was accompanied by his wife Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut, was informed by the Sultan’s private physician Dr Anuar Marzuki that Tuanku Sultan was recovering well and responding positively to the follow-up treatment.
“I conveyed to Tuanku Sultan the wishes from the Rakyat and our hope for his speedy recovery and that we will continue to pray until he is fully fit. We hope to see him back home soon,” said Tan Sri Khalid.
During the working visit to California, the Menteri Besar was also given a briefing on housing projects spearheaded by a non-profit group, the Mid-Peninsula Housing Coalition (MPHC), which assists in the housing needs for the low-income families, senior citizens and people with special needs.
MPHC president and founder Fran Wagstaff, who accompanied him on tour to several of the group’s projects in San Metro County, Pablo Alto and San Jose, also conducted the briefing. The State Government hopes to conduct a further study to determine if Selangor can initiate such similar projects to improve the housing needs for its people.
Tan Sri Khalid also had a series of meetings with a group of industrialists at the Silicon Valley initiated by Malaysian Industrial Development Authority (MIDA) office in San Jose. He visited Plug and Play Tech Centre, a private incubator centre that helped the Silicon Valley start up by providing space, technology support and exposure to venture capitalist.
He also had the opportunity to meet Novus Incorporate and discussed, among others, the possibility of state support for the semiconductor company, which currently has operations in Selangor and Penang.
The Menteri Besar will further be attending several gatherings with the Malaysian community in Silicon Valley before returning to Malaysia on Friday and resume official duties on Sunday.
