SHAH ALAM, Mar 19 – Industrial University of Selangor ’s (Unisel) new Vice Chancellor, Datuk Dr Rosti Saruwono said Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor is still Chancellor of the university.

Dr Rosti said only the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj could make decisions relating to the matter.

He said this in a media conference after a Friendly Get Together session with the media at the Unisel campus here this morning.

Dr Rosti was asked to comment on Rosmah’s position since several parties have asked for her to be replaced because it was felt she had brought no academic values for the university.

He added, besides the Sultan of Selangor, any changes could only be decided upon by Unisel’s Board of Directors.

“…Rosmah holds this post voluntarily and with the Sultan’s consent. In fact she has also never done anything to disturb or affect the university’s policies,” he said.

The Dato’ Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, after receiving a memorandum from the Pakatan Rakyat youth protesting Rosmah’s appointment as Chancellor on November 5 of last year, said that the state government had no power to end her appointment.

He said this was because all decisions relating to appointments were fully under the authority of the university’s Board of Directors.
