SHAH ALAM, Mar 16 – DYMM Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj today received a RM6,707,963.37 cheque for business tithes from the Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) in a ceremony at the Istana Bukit Kayangan, here this morning.
 
LTH, represented by its Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Dato’ Ismee Ismail handed over the cheque for the financial year of 2008.
 
Also present at the ceremony were Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) Chairman, Tan Sri  Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Syed Putra Jamalullail, Selangor Islamic Religion Council Chairman Dato’ Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa, Selangor LTH Director Md Ridza Mat Zain and LZS General Manager Ahmad Shahir Makhtar.
 
The amount collected in business tithes this time is the highest compared to other states and the biggest amount received by LZS thus far.
 
There were 649,350 LTH depositors in Selangor throughout 2008. – MURIZA ABDUL HAMID
