Peruse RM2.5m Mercedes Purchase
Mar 12th, 2009 | By nizam | Category: NewsSHAH ALAM, Mar 12 – Hulu Klang State Assemblyman (Adun) Shaari Sungib today requested that the Dato’ Menteri Besar look into the purchase of two Mercedes cars by Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB) used by its Chairman and Executive President prior to last year’s general elections.
In revealing this issue, Shaari said that several months before the 12th general elections, KDEB which is also a subsidiary of the state government had decided to buy two cars worth nearly RM2.5 million, which were a Mercedes S500 and Mercedes S350 each priced at RM1.5 million and RM900,000.
He said, a down payment of RM1 million was made to Cycle & Carriage after the elections which saw the Pakatan Rakyat taking over the state government, but it is not known where the money was channelled while no cars were delivered.
“The question is how could this decision have been made. I would like Yang Amat Berhormat Ijok (Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim) to peruse this matter for the sake of the people,” he said here today.
He added, KDEB also held a 51 per cent stake on a land development company, which had bought a Range Rover worth RM500,000 for the company to conduct site visits.
“However, the moment the car arrived, it was given to the KDEB Chairman’s wife,” he said.
He questioned how such corporate administration could happen in a subsidiary company belonging to the Selangor state government. – MURIZA ABDUL HAMID
