SHAH ALAM, Mar 11– Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) is said to have funded RM1.2 million for  a ‘technical visit’ by the Selangor Assemblymen and MPs Welfare and Charity Organisation (Balkis) in 2007.

Mohamed Azmin Ali (PKR-Bukit Antarabangsa) when revealing this fact said Balkis had also made technical visits to Hong Kong and Korea.

“I would like to know what were the results of those visits? Balkis had received a large allocation from PNSB for welfare purposes.

“I would like to know how much expenditure was incurred by PNSB for this trip including for their clothing and accessories,” he said.

Therefore he welcomed the state government’s efforts to monitor and supervise the responsibility and transparency of the administrations of all agencies, statutory bodies, authorities and organisations under state administration.

“While we reveal the offences and swindling of Umno and Barisan Nasional after ruling for 50 years, the people want to see good and responsible administration under the Pakatan Rakyat government,” he said.

Mohamed Azmin also commeted on the issue of the RM159,250 Patek Phillipe watch given to the then PNSB chairman, Dato’ Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo.

He was informed that the investigation panel formed by the state government which was also made up of an accountant forensic team  had identified a possible abuse of power in giving the luxury watch.

He said, according to the General Order, a civil servant could not receive gifts worth more than RM1,000.

“So far there is no evidence that the gift was returned, as it is with PNSB,” he said.

He added, according to sources the watch had been sold to a buyer by PNSB but there are no records to verify this. – NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
