Sultan of Selangor Wants Water Issue to be Resolved Soon
Mar 10th, 2009 | By nizam | Category: NewsSHAH ALAM, 10 Mac – The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj says the restructuring of Selangor’s water industry needs to be resolved soon for the sake of the people.
“I do not want to see my people suffer due to lack of water which could result if this problem is not quickly,” he said.
Sultan Sharafuddin said, he was informed that the negotiation process relating to this restructuring was still on-going.
“I understand the water industry is extremely complex and involves a lot of financial analysis.
“Therefore I hope the price offered by the government to the water concession companies is reasonable and appropriate to facilitate negotiations,” he said.
He added, the final figure agreed upon for take over by the companies was crucial in deciding the state government’s future expenditure.
He said this was because the peoples’ money must be spent for their benefit, especially in such trying economic times.
“Let every cent we spend benefit the people and not certain greedy parties,” he said.
He said this when officiating the second term of the 12th State Legislative Assembly meeting, this morning. – NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
