SHAH ALAM, Mar 4 – Chairman for Permanent Committee on Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs, Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Dato’ Dr Hasan Mohamed Ali today said that the Qadiani movement which was declared deviant in 1975 was still active in several areas in this state.

He said, the Qadiani’s teachings clearly deviated from that of Islam and till today was still being practised in Kampung Nakhoda, Selayang, Jeram, Kuala Selangor as well as several other areas.

“We have found that this movement is still in operation and its teachings, methods of worship, teaching and ideology are similar to that of Islam, which cases confusion especially among the younger generation, even though a fatwa had declared it a deviant movement,” he said in a media conference after the weekly State Executive Council (Exco) Member meeting this afternoon.

Therefore he said, the state government would ask the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) to take down signboards relating to this movement and replacing these with new signboards which proclaimed it a deviant movement.

He added, the state government and Land Department were also looking into the matter and would be taking action on mosques in Kampung Nakhoda which was used by its followers and had not been built according to regulations.

In other developments, a meeting will be held with the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) this Friday to discuss the issue of the Klang Sentral bus terminal.

This follows a memorandum sent by representatives of traders, bus and taxi operators in the terminal today to the Dato’ Menteri Besar’s Political Secretary , Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. – MURIZA ABDUL HAMID
