MACC Establishment Briefing
Mar 2nd, 2009 | By nizam | Category: NewsSHAH ALAM, Mar 2 – The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) today held a briefing on its establishment to senior officers and heads of department in Selangor.
The briefing was held at the Dewan Annex, Bangunan Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) near here this afternoon.
Also present in the briefing conducted by MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner 1 (Operations), Dato’ Abu Kassim Mohamed, were the Dato’ Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, State Executive Council (Exco) Member, Yaakob Sapari and Selangor State Assembly Speaker Teng Chang Khim.
In his brief, Dato’ Abu Kassim among other things touched on the five structures of the MACC, which are the Special Committee on Corruption, Complaints Committee, Corruption Consultation and Prevention Panel, Operation Review Panel and the Anti-Corruption Advisory Board.
MACC was established to replace the Anti-Corruption Agency lsat Tuesday by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
It was established with the aim of increasing effectiveness and strengthen cooperation in the country’s efforts to fight corruption.
Besides that it is also hoped to be able to improve the perception of independence in implementing the commission’s functions as well as act transparently as required by the law and society’s aspirations.– NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
