SHAH ALAM, February 26 – The Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) has ordered the Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB) to give a complete list of all benefits and amenities given to its workers to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), according to a statement today.

The order, issued after PNSB was found to have failed to complete EA forms to declare its profits to the IRB several years ago.

The Dato’ Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim who is also Chairman for both MBI and PNSB said these measures were taken to ensure the state government subsidiary company did not violate any tax payment laws.

“For several years PNSB had given benefits to its workers, including chairman, Board of Directors in the form of items, cash or both.

“This includes a car and driver, as well as holidays within and without the country,” he said in a statement released by his office.

He said holiday benefits were given to all staff while the chauffeured cars were only given to the Chief Executive, director, senior managers and managers.

Several advisors appointed by MBI in their assessment towards PNSB’s performance also found that the previous chairman, Dato’ Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo had been given a Toyota Harrier in 2005 as well as a chauffeur in 2006.

Besides that, PNSB also bore costs for petrol and car maintenance.

PNSB however did not state what benefits were given to Dr Mohamad Khir who used all of them until March last year, in its previous EA forms.

Abdul Khalid asked PNSB staff to be patient and wait for the IRB to increase tax additions for the individuals involved as PNSB’s management had not declared its income in the previous EA forms. – NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
