Elizabeth Wong Issue : Sultan of Selangor Leaves It To MB

SHAH ALAM, February 25 – The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has left it to the Dato’ Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to decide on the issue regarding State Executive (Exco) Member, Elizabeth Wong.

Sultan Sharafuddin in a statement released by his Private Secretary, said that he could not give advice or guidance to the Dato’ Menteri Besar on this issue because it was still being investigated.

Besides involving Elizabeth ’s posts, which included Bukit Lanjan State Assemblywoman, Mohamad Munir said that as Sultan he had to be impartial in political matters.

“He also stated his confidence in any decision which the Dato’ Menteri Besar might come to and believed that it would be a fair and wise decision which would take into consideration the interests of the rakyat and the state of Selangor,” he said.

He said the Sultan of Selangor was also worried and saddened by events lately where the personal rights and privacy of individuals were trespassed and used as a tool to smear their reputation and image.

“It is extremely sad when individual lives and private rights are used as a publicity stint to be spread (through the mass media) to the public,” he said.

Mohamad Munir said besides feeling sad and sympathising with Elizabeth , he hoped that she would remain calm and strong.- NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
