Petition in Support of Elizabeth Signed
Feb 24th, 2009 | By nizam | Category: NewsSHAH ALAM, February 24 – A petition containing 10,000 signatures supporting Bukit Lanjan State Assemblywoman (Adun), Elizabeth Wong, will be submitted to the Dato’ Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
The petition from the Coalition of Residents’ Associations of Bukit Lanjan – including Kota Damansara and Bukit Antarabangsa is a sign of support for Elizabeth to continue her duties as Adun and Selangor State Executive Council (Exco) member.
Bobby Gan, Chairman of the Bukit Lanjan Coalition of Residents’ Associations, gave the petition to Dato’ Menteri Besar Political Secretary, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad at the lobby of the Bangunan Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (SSAAS) here, this afternoon.
Also present was Suara Rakyat Malaysia Coordinator, Moon Hui, and several committee members of the association.
Gan, who was met by reporters said, the petition contained 10,000 signatures as a sign of support for Elizabeth whose personal photographs had been taken and distributed without her knowledge.
“We as residents wish to express our strongest support for Elizabeth and want her to serve as Bukit Lanjan Adun as well as Exco,” he said, adding that the petition campaign had been started last Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Nik Nazmi said he would give the petition to the Dato’ Menteri Besar, who would be facing the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj tomorrow. – MURIZA ABDUL HAMID
