SHAH ALAM, February 19 – Elizabeth Wong, the victim of distribution of private photographs taken without her knowledge, again appealed to be given space by the the media and her supporters.

The Selangor State Executive Council (Exco) member and State Assemblywoman for Bukit Lanjan in a statement today also informed that she had gone overseas.

According to Elizabeth , even though she had offered to resign, the media and websites continued to intrude into her private life and privacy.

In fact she had also been informed by several media that they would continue to publish news about her private life.

“I have been informed by several media that they will continue to publish even more lewd graphical, sensational stories of my private life.

“I have also been told there will be a fresh assault, with more photographs and videos released and circulated in order to completely degrade and bury me.

“This is the darkest episode in my life. “

Elizabeth also said she had never felt as alone, vulnerable and humiliated as she did now.

“I need to rest and to search for peace of mind to get away from the stormy events surrounding me,” she said.

Elizabeth begged again that her personal life be left private and more important issues such as the economic crisis, retrenchment and corruption be given more attention.

She added, she stood by her ground to not answer any questions regarding her private life.

“My private life is not for public scrutiny as I have not broken any law or caused harm to anyone.

“…I plead to the media as well as my supporters to allow me some peace of mind, and to give me space. I urge the media to leave my family, friends and I alone. Please do not continue to shame my family and I, so that we have a chance to lead a normal life as ordinary citizens,” she said.

Elizabeth however appreciated the overwhelming support shown from all quarters, especially her voters, women in particular and her party comrades.

She was also thankful for the public support that had been pouring in ceaselessly.

“There is nothing in this world that can repay your kindness.”.- NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
