SHAH ALAM, February 13 – To strengthen the mutual agreement between Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen (Aduns) of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) in Selangor, a meeting was held at the official residence of the Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim here, last night.

The meeting which was attended by almost all PR Members of Parliament and Aduns clearly showed the relationship between the three coalition parties, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), PAS and DAP in Selangor is still strong despite attempts by certain parties to cause havoc within the PR government by spreading negative rumours.

Three leaders who were unable to attend were Kapar Member of Parliament, S.Manikavasagam, Puchong Member of Parliament, Gobind Singh Deo and Sekinchan Adun, Ng Suee Lim.

In last night’s meeting, Abdul Khalid who is also Selangor PKR Chairman, asked PR Aduns in this state to set aside trifling issues which could affect the close relationship between the three parties.

He said, mutual agreement and close understanding was needed in a party to fight against lies and malicious claims of the opposing party.

Besides discussion current issues at state level, last night’s meeting also touched on issues relating to the two other PR states, Perak and Kedah which will be holding by-elections soon.

Meanwhile, the Political Secretary to the Dato’ Menteri Besar, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad when met by reporters after the meeting said the party was confident party jumping would not happen among the PR leaders in Selangor.

“To date, we are confident that such a thing will not happen in Selangor. This will not be an issue considering our strong esprit de corps,” he said.

In the meantime, he said, Selangor PR will still take note of current developments in Perak and support the leadership of Dato’ Seri Ir Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin.

In other developments, Nik Nazmi said Selangor PR would hold an Exco Retreat which would also involve Members of Parliament and Aduns in this state.

“This retreat is aimed at discussing current issues and future plans for the Selangor state government,” he said, adding that the programme would be held in Subang Jaya from February 20th to 22nd. -MURIZA ABDUL HAMID
