SHAH ALAM, February 11 – PBT Financial Management in this state will be upgraded says the Chairperson for Permanent Committee on Local Government, Study and Research, Ronnie Liu.

He said, several suggestions to upgrade the transparency of financial management have been approved by the State Executive Council meeting today.

Touching on the suggestions, Ronnie said any decisions to appoint contractors for supply of products or services to PBTs require authorisation from their financial committees.

He said, no PBT officer could make such decisions, including the signing of contracts, before obtaining permission from the committee.

“The financial committee will also be responsible for examining all suggested budgets and ensuring all contracts released are worth it,” he said.

He added, the committee should also evaluate the efficiency of those given the contracts.

“All decisions by the financial committee must be tabled in a full meeting for all approvals.

This is the latest step in upgrading the transparency of financial management in all PBTs,” he said.
