Contributions For The Underprivileged

Various assistance and contributions are given to ensure they too feel the joy of the season.
In continuing this tradition, the Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (Pekawanis) recently held a special ceremony for the less fortunate, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year.
As many as 200 single mothers, senior citizens and the disabled (OKU) as well as 200 orphans from 22 state assembly areas were chosen to receive the contributions.
The ceremony Dato’ Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim presided over the ceremony, which was held at the Fortuna Palace Restaurant here, on Saturday.
Pekawanis Chairman, Puan Sri Salbiah Tunut, was also in attendance.
Meanwhile, Pekawanis is also working hard to reduce the burden of Selangor’s poor, particularly single mothers, through various charity programmes.
Since its establishment in October 2008, more than 600 single mothers and 800 orphans in this state have received contributions. – MURIZA ABDUL HAMID
