Lawyers To Look Into Latest Allegations
Feb 7th, 2009 | By nizam | Category: NewsSHAH ALAM, February 7 – Dato’ Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim will ask his lawyers to look into the latest allegations claiming he had abused his powers by using state government money to pay for maintenance of his own car.
At the same time, Abdul Khalid said he would ask the State Financial Officer Dato’ Mohd Arif Abd Rahman to write a report on the matter so that everything would be transparent.
He said this included what the money was used for and how, as well as the actual agreement made.
“My lawyers will also look at the use of information which could be defamatory… it (the information) could be part of a story, (but we) do not know the other half of it and so it was used as (material) for making unnecessary allegations,” he said when met by reporters after launching the Si Manja Tawas membership card and giving of savings certificates for the Tawas Ambank at his official residence here this morning.
Abdul Khalid said the Lexus sports utility vehicle (SUV) which was his own car was also his official vehicle.
“I have said that it is the official vehicle of the Menteri Besar, which I do not use full-time. I feel more comfortable using it,” he said.
Abdul Khalid said, he also had another car that was used for personal matters.
Meanwhile when asked to comment on the issue of jumping parties he said such a thing would not happen among Pakatan Rakyat members in this state.
“It is a very low possibility,” he said, adding that there were no signs to indicate such a thing would happen.
“The three parties such as DAP, PAS and Keadilan must preserve the dignity of each party so that none of the members of the state legislative assembly jump here and there to the extent that it negatively affects the party, such as what happened in Perak,” he said. – NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
