SHAH ALAM, January 23 – The state government today stressed that state funds had not been used to purchase 46 sacrificial cows for the constituency of Bandar Tun Razak.

Political Secretary to the Dato’ Menteri Besar, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad in a media statement said today that the sacrificial cows had been donated by six subsidiary and affiliated companies of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

The companies are the Selangor Industrial Corporation Berhad (SIC) (5 cows worth RM12,000), Selaman Sdn Bhd (10 cows worth RM24,000), Damansara Impian Sdn Bhd (6 cows worth RM14,400), Pembinaan K.K.Wong Sdn Bhd through Sunway Damansara Sdn Bhd (10 cows worth RM24,000), PKNS Infra Berhad (5 cows worth RM12,000), Mas Ehsan Development Sdn Bhd (10 cows worth RM24,000) and PKNS Engineering & Construction Berhad (5 cows worth RM12,000).

He said, the cows had been donated to 43 mosques, suraus and madrasahs in the constituency among them the Saidina Othman Mosque, the Sungai Besi Mosque, the Tasik Selatan Mosque, Al-Hijrah Surau in Taman Mulia, As-Syakirin Surau in Desa Tasik and the An Nur Madrasah in Taman Tenaga.

He said, the state government had been informed by PKNS that SIC Berhad had paid RM110,400 to the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) which had provided the cows.

“The company (SIC Berhad) then sent debit notes to the six companies for payment,” he said.

Nik Nazmi said to ensure transparency and accountability, the Menteri Besar’s Office would investigate the validity of the documents which allegedly proved Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had misused state government funds to purchase the cows.

“The state government is concerned with the validity of the documents which had been obtained by the parties making these allegations,” he said.

He said such irresponsible allegations were only aimed at sullying the reputation of Pakatan Rakyat’s leadership in Selangor.

“The state government especially the Dato’ Menteri Besar himself will not bow to  such cheap political attacks and will continue to be committed in carrying out the duties entrusted by the people of Selangor,”  he said.

Meanwhile, PKNS Public Relations Manager, Mohd Wazir Abdul Gani said in conjunction with Aidiladha last year, the company had sponsored 390 sacrificial cows to be distributed at mosques  and suraus throughout Selangor.

He said, in organising the sponsorship several subsidiary and affiliated companies were interested in carrying out their social duties by donating 46 of the animals in the Bandar Tun Razak area.

He explained, the decision was made after a discussion at the PKNS group management level whereby the companies had agreed to fund the programme.

He said, PKNS only informed the Dato’ Menteri Besar about the donation after all the plans had been made.

“PKNS would like to explain that neither the Dato’ Menteri Besar nor his officers had ever contacted PKNS or SIC Berhad regarding the donation of those cows to the constituency of Bandar Tun Razak.

“He had also never signed any documents ordering SIC Berhad to make payments,” he said.

Mohd Wazir also explained that Abdul Khalid was not the chairman of SIC Berhad as had been reported by the media, as the post was held by Datin Paduka Low Siew Moi cum General Manager of PKNS. – NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
