SHAH ALAM, January 23  – 2,163 2007 excellent students from Government-Assisted Religious Schools (SABK) and Maahad Integrasi Tahfiz Istana Banda (MITIB), Jugra today received encouragement scholarships from Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (Mais).
 
Each of the students received scholarships of RM360 a year involving allocations amounting to RM778,680.
 
The scholarships were presented by Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) Director, Dato’ Haji Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.
 
Sekolah Agama Menengah Bestari, USJ 5 Subang Jaya received the most awards when 418  of its students received scholarships amounting to RM150,480.

This was followed by the Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Hishamuddin, Kampung Jawa Klang with RM111,240 involving 309 students and 164 students at Sekolah Agama Menengah Batu 10, Hulu Langat with scholarships amounting to RM59,040.
 
Mais Encouragement Scholarships which were started in 2003 are awarded to students who achieve excellent results in their Penilaian Sekolah Rendah Agama (PSRA) examinations with results of 90 per cent and above, a minimum of 7As in Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examinations,  75 per cent and above in Sijil Menengah Agama (SMA) examinations, 7As in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations, a minimum of 2Ps in Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examinations and Jayyid Jiddan results for Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) examinations. – NOOR ALLIA KASSIM
